22m2 Ceramic encaustic antique floor with double borders (CL2)

22m2 Ceramic encaustic antique floor with double borders

A complete ceramic encaustic hallway floor, totaling over 22m2 / 230 sq ft, dated c.1920-1930. The floor consists of a principal field tile in off white and grey with a starred blue motif, complimented by an ornate double back to back border tile in predominantly aubergine. The border series can be laid in duplicate or as a single tile depending on the linear length of border required or your personal preference.

The floor has been reclaimed from the kitchen and dining rooms of a period property in Recquignies, Picardy, France along with two other floors, details of which can be found by clicking here and here.

Ceramic encaustic and we think produced by Winckelmans (who are one of the last great producers from the Belle Epoque still manufacturing in France now) both the principal field tile and the border tiles are 15 cm sq / c. 6 inches.

The floor has cleaned very well of old wax and mortar and arrives ready to relay. A small number of tiles display small groutable chips and edge nibbles but they have been individually quality controlled are of excellent quality. Being ceramic encaustic they can be laid inside or outside of the home and of course can be used very efficiently with underfloor heating systems.
