Stunning Boch Freres antique ceramic floor 1900 - 14.25m2 / 150sq ft+ (CE137)
A superb marriage of tile design genius and ceramic quality can be found in this antique Boch Freres triple bordered ceramic encaustic floor dated 1900.
The palette is subtle in mushroom and brown with intricate off white piping and while the design is ornate, indulgent and unmistakingly French the tessellation of the floor produces an exquisite geometry. The floor has been recovered from the hallway of a maison maitre in the suburbs of Paris.
The tiles are 14cm sq, the slip is deep and the colours consistent. In the photographs below the floor has been laid out showing just one of the small border tiles present (along with the large border tile) but there are sufficient small borders to frame the large borders each side, as a triple border layout. All four large border corner tiles and eight small border corner tiles are present.
