6m2 - ceramic blue and white floor tiles (CD8)

c.6m2 of antique French blue and white 14.2cm sq ceramic tiles, dating from the beginning of the 20th century. The tiles have been recovered from a renovation project in the Nord Pas de Calais area of France along with a burgundy and cream damier floor. The tiles are marked ‘MCM’ which are the initials for Compagnie Française de Mosaïque Céramique de Maubeuge which had two factories actively trading at the turn of the last century; one at Maubeuge Montplaisir and another at Landrecies. The company specialised in plain and inlaid mosaic pattern tiles. The tiles are just over 1cm thick and are clean and ready to re-lay.
