8.5m2 / 90 sq ft Sand & Cie antique ceramic floor - early 20th century (SC10)

SOLD   SOLD   SOLD   A small, ornate, French ceramic encaustic floor manufactured by Sand & Cie in the early part of the 20th century. The floor consists of a floral themed main field tile of 14cm sq., framed by a half size border tile of the same palette. This pretty floor has been reclaimed from the kitchen of a period house in Beauvais, Picardie, some 80 kms north of Paris.

Completely restored to its original beauty the tile is of very good quality, which is to be expected of a Sand and Cie tile. The ceramic is excellent, there is no wear and aside a small percentage of tiles having very small chips and nibbles to be expected of a floor if this age, it is in excellent condition. The high resolution photographs below show a section of approximately one metre square.

The floor arrives professionally cleaned and ready to relay and being a highly fired ceramic can be laid inside or outside of the home. They are also suitable to be laid with underfloor heating systems.
