c.12 m2 of antique French kitchen tiles in light grey and salmon

c.12m2 / 120 sq ft of antique French damier tiles in light grey and salmon*, reclaimed from the kitchen of a fermette in Arnay Le Duc, Cote d'Or, Burgundy and dated between 1900 and 1920.

These are a small tile, 12mm thick and 12.5 cm sq and have a freckled finish, which we think is marble dust in the clay. They are reverse marked with a capital 'D' although we cannot trace the manufacturer from that and it may be reference to a model number. The tiles are ceramic and can be used with an undefloor heating system, they have cleaned well of old wax and dirt and arrive ready to relay. Some display small edge nibbles and occasional small chips but the high resolution photographs below are an accurate randomly selected representation of the floor.

There are more light grey tiles than salmon, as the original configuration of the floor had a solid grey band of tiles keying the floor to walls after which there was a classical chessboard lay.
