10m2 / 105 sq ft of antique damier carreaux de ciments tiles (CM39)

10m2 / 105 sq ft of antique damier carreaux de ciments tiles

SOLD   SOLD   SOLD   10m2 of antique carreaux de ciments damier style floor tiles reclaimed from the kitchen a town house in Lyon and dated 1920.

The floor comprises of three tiles in a palette of white and burgundy; a plain white tile, a plain burgundy tile and a burgundy cross motif on a white fond. The tiles are 20cm sq and 2cm thick and give or take one or two tiles there are:-

Plain Burgundy tile – 70

Plain white tile – 125

Motif tile – 50

There are also some free rejected tiles that can be used for offcuts.

The floor has been professionally cleaned of old mortar and has had old wax steamed off. There remains, as is often the case with carreaux de ciments tiles, some of the aged patina of the floor in respect of slight colour variations, isolated small staining and general wear and for a small number of tiles some small chips and nibbling. The high resolution photographs below are an accurate representation of the floor. Sealing will be necessary once the floor is laid and we feel a satin waxing would add lustre to this antique floor.

We have laid out the floor in a couple of presentations but of course the options are many and we would be happy to assist with layout design based on your surface area dimensions.

Being carreaux de ciments tiles, cured rather than fired, they are only suitable for indoor use unless you live somewhere where freezing and thawing in winter doesn’t occur.
