2.5m2 antique Belgian ceramic encaustic floor with half size borders (PC10)

SOLD   SOLD   SOLD   A small, 2.5m2 antique Belgian ceramic floor of 14cm sq tiles dating from the early 20th century comprising of 114 main field tiles and 32 half sized lattice themed borders, which total 4.8 linear metres / 14 1/2 ft . There are also 13 full size border tiles in varying condition, ranging from perfect to some with larger chips. These larger borders are supplied free and can be used either within the floor or, for example, as a splashback behind a sink should the floor be laid as a feature in a bathroom or kitchen. The tiles have cleaned well and are in good condition. Old mortar and wax have been removed revealing good slip colours on a quality ceramic producing an ornate but pleasingly geometrical and warm floor which would look superb as a centralised small feature in a room or in a porch, toilet, on steps....They can also be fixed on walls,....in an inglenook or behind an Aga.

Being highly fired, the tiles can be laid inside or outside the home and being excellent conductors and retainers of heat can be used with underfloor heating systems.
