SOLD SOLD SOLD

A 14.5m2 / 155 sq ft+ antique encaustic tile floor c.1900 which principally uses tiles of two colours to create a classical geometric tessellation within the main field area of the floor – a 14.2cm sq blue, grey and charcoal tile, laid in duplicate, which frames a 14cm sq mushroom and brown tile filling the majority of the surface area of the floor.

Two border tiles, primarily in blue and blue/grey, one full size and one half size complete the tile suite.

The photographs taken replicate the original layout from the hallway it was removed from in Namur, Belgium although options exist for different layouts, one of which is laying the blue tiles as four tile ‘features’ within the mushroom coloured field tiles rather than as the double framing shown in the photographs.

The floor has been cleaned of its old lime based mortar and the faces have been cleaned with a specialist alkaline and steam pressure washed, so the floor arrives ready to re-lay. It is in good condition; some tiles displaying small chips and nibbles expected of a floor of this age but the photographs are of a good sized random section of the floor.

Tile quantities (give or take one or two):-

Main ‘blue’ field tile – 14.2 cm sq – 125 Main ‘brown’ field tile – 14 cm sq – 510 Large border tiles – 80 (including the four corners) Small border tiles – 50 (no corners)
