c.9m2 / 97 sq ft. of 1930's French kitchen tiles

c.9m2 / 97 sq ft of antique French tiles reclaimed from the kitchen of a fermette in Arnay Le Duc, Cote d'Or, Burgundy, France.

We would date the tiles to the decade of the 1930's.

The tiles are ceramic, salmon in colour, 12mm / 0.47 inches thick and 12.5 cm / 4.9 inches sq. There is a freckled finish to the surface of the tiles, which has been achieved by applying marble dust to the surface of the clay and polishing before firing. They are reverse marked with a capital 'D' although we cannot trace the manufacturer, and it may be a reference to a model number.

The tiles have cleaned well of their old surface wax and dirt and arrive ready to relay. Some display small groutable edge nibbles or occasional small chips; The high-resolution photographs in the gallery are of a randomly selected section of the tiles and therefore representative of the whole.

There are 580 tiles plus some free rejects for the tiler to use as cuts.
